Litigation Paralegal (Personal Injury)
Job Description:
Our client is a personal injury law firm seeking a Litigation Paralegal to support their attorneys across the litigation lifecycle, from drafting and filing through discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Litigation Drafting & Filing: Draft complaints, interrogatories, requests for admissions, motions, and other legal documents (templates provided for most documents).
- Litigation Drafting & Filing: File lawsuits using e-filing systems in North Carolina and South Carolina state courts; federal court e-filing experience is valuable but not required.
- Litigation Drafting & Filing: Conduct legal research on case law and procedural issues to support attorneys.
- Discovery & Client Communication: Prepare responses to interrogatories and requests for production of documents.
- Discovery & Client Communication: Call clients to gather the information needed to respond to interrogatories and requests for production.
- Discovery & Client Communication: Assist with client support calls as needed, including for Spanish-speaking clients.
- Case Management: Set up and schedule depositions for clients, defendants, law enforcement, and medical providers.
- Case Management: Maintain and update case files and case status in CasePeer.
- Case Management: Correspond with clients, opposing counsel, and courts under attorney supervision, primarily via Outlook.
- Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys with exhibits, evidence, motions, and pre-trial orders for trial.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal at a U.S. personal injury law firm.
Drafting: Experience drafting complaints, interrogatories, requests for admissions, motions, and other litigation documents from templates.
E-Filing: Experience with e-filing systems in North Carolina and/or South Carolina state courts.
Legal Research: Experience conducting legal research on case law and procedural issues.
Systems: Experience with CasePeer or similar case management software required; proficient with Outlook.
Communication: Fluent, professional written and verbal English required.
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, given the deadline-sensitive nature of litigation work.
Work Style: Organized, reliable self-starter comfortable managing multiple active litigation files.
Language: Required — fully bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
